Trash The Dress

I attended a workshop with the most amazing photographers in a ghost town in the mountains with four models and great instructors.  This was an awesome event and I was very excited to learn from some of the best photographers in the state of Colorado.  It was great to have these beautiful models that allowed us to push the envelope of bridal portraits.

10 Year Memorial of the Columbine High School Massacre

On April 20, 2009 the 10 year anniversary of the Columbine massacre was commemorated with a memorial service. This was a truly moving experience. As a wedding photographer, I am use to happy occasions commemorating the beginning of a new life. This was quite the opposite, commemorating the lives that were lost.

Talk about a great concert....

I want to begin to say that I am a really bad blogger, its been awhile....

I went to Scottsdale, Arizona on February 20th for a variety of reasons; my nephew Phillip and his wife had their firstborn daughter last month so I went to meet the little tike and to watch him perform.  Phillip and his brother Christian have a band -- Flight To London -- that has really been doing great in the Phoenix music scene and these guys have some serious potential.  The concert was awesome and they give such a good vibe.  It was wild to see my nephews perform for the first time because I still have them embedded in my mind as little kids that I use to babysit.  Needless to say it was a great concerts on many personal levels....

Megan and Phillip's Baby shower

I went to Megan and Phillip's baby shower in Phoenix, Arizona for their co-ed, beer-friendly event.  It was an absolutely great time! It was fun to see the guys as, or if not, more into the baby shower games than the girls.  They are expecting a baby girl late January, early February 2009.

Sarah and Mike

I met up with Sarah and Mike at Civic Center Park to do their engagement session on a cloudy saturday afternoon.  I got there before them and unfortunately the place was riddled with Denver's transient community, which made it difficult to take the photographs we were aiming for. However,  we were able to get the session done there and we walked towards the 16th Street Mall where we ended our session.  Sarah and Mike were such fun couple to work with and I really look forward to their June wedding.  It was sooo obvious how much fun and in love they are.  They had such a natural dynamic.

Frida - My interpretation

So I took this photograph with a 4 by 5 camera in the studio with black and white film. I used a portrait book with the picture of Frida Kahlo on the cover as the background and a toy bus and flowers as my macro subjects.

Dannette and Jose

Dannette contacted me because she wanted maternity portraits done as a surprise for her husband's birthday.  I set up a backdrop in an empty room that was surrounded by windows so I didn't have to use any artificial light!  She was a cool girl, very willing to take some boudoir style photographs that accentuated her sensuality and the beauty of her pregnancy.  At first she had a very serious look when she looked into the camera, but once we noticed it, she really brought out the smiles and had much softer looks.  A few weeks later I went back to do a secondary session with her husband.  That was a nice session because I got to see not only her excitement about the baby, but his as well.
